Okay, so this week I'm not going back to my childhood, exactly.
But it does go back to my senior year of high school, which was over a decade ago.
Crazy, because it seems like several decades ago.
A few years earlier, all my female friends had the apparently-difficult choice of picking between a trio of boy bands: Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync, and 98 Degrees.
My senior year, it was the fellas turn.
Two girls came on the scene for us to decide between: Christina and Britney.
Some guys struggled with the decision.
Though I have learned to appreciate some of Britney's club tunes, I've been a Christina fan from the start.

Christina Aguilera
Come On Over (All I Want is You)
Britney Spears
...Baby One More Time
Both have changed a lot over the years, and they've made some questionable personal decisions.
But let's keep those out of the equation and just focus on the music and performing.
Based on their professional product and ability, which do you prefer?
Christina has more talent hands down, but Britney's songs were catchier.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I still love their older stuff IMO they have both jumped the shark musically.
Christina definitely has more talent.
ReplyDeleteBritney has the more All-American beauty...or had...
I like curvier Christina and buffer Brit.
I like them both, honestly...I love working out to Britney songs, but CandyMan by Christina is right up there! She's definitely got the better pipes...I'm rambling...
Christina definately has the stronger voice.
ReplyDeleteHowever, if we're comparing just these two music videos, Christina's sexuality is more in your face, while Britney's strength is the innocent, under-stated sexuality.
In Christina's video the dancing is cool, but it focuses more on Christina's physical attributes, and showcases the other dancers. But I LOVE the blonde hair with the bright red throughout it. Maybe I'll have to try that the next time I have long hair.
In Britney's video, she is the focus, particularly in the dance numbers. However, she is terrible and obvious at lipsyncing.
Christina's video is all over the place, while Britney's has an actual theme.
Larissa, I LOVE the CandyMan song and video!
All great comments, and I agree that Christina has a much stronger voice. Maybe that's why I picked her, because I really do care about the music more than the performing and image they portray (example: Adele rocks the free world, and no one cares that she doesn't fit the singer-superstar mold physically).
ReplyDeleteAnd feel free to ramble here anytime :)
