Make Donald Drumpf Again!

The Republican presidential race is getting scary.

For a while, I was amused to see "the Donald" leading polls and winning state primaries.

Now I'm frightened to imagine a world where he actually has a shot at being POTUS.

Last night John Oliver, host of Last Week Tonight on HBO, shared some facts about the presidential hopeful, illuminating his record and verifying the claims made by "the Donald" and his supporters.

I could list Mr. Oliver's points, but it's probably better/easier to just share the video. Yes, the segment is a bit lengthy, but it's worth the watch. If these 20 minutes can educate even one honest voter (and I think it could help many), then America will be better off for it.

As a bonus, Mr. Oliver shared a tidbit about the previous last name of "the Donald". His family's previous last name was Drumpf.

Mr. Oliver also started a hashtag (#MakeDonaldDrumpfAgain) and shared a webpage (http://www.donaldjdrumpf.com/) to get a Chrome extension which will correct the word "T-rump" (without the -) in your Google Chrome browser to be "Drumpf".

For sure, my news day has been much more interesting and entertaining since I installed the Drumpfinator Chrome Extension. Here's what it looks like when I Google "Donald T-rump" (again, without the -):

The rest of this presidential race will be easier to observe, now that this candidate's name will show correctly in my internet browser. Thanks, John Oliver!

Feeling the Bern

I don't often share my political views in public forums.

But I'm happy to declare that Bernie Sanders has my support for the Democratic nomination.

As with all the candidates, there are some points of Bernie's that I'm not 100% on board with, or that I don't understand the details and steps to achieve his promises/goals.

What I do know, is that I agree with how and why he wants to get things done.

Bernie wants to represent the American people, not just the wealthy constituents and their lobbyists.
Sadly, that is a refreshing change from what we've become used to in U.S. politics.

Bernie has been saying the same things for decades of his political service.
His views on equality and rights haven't changed over time, based on pollsters findings or recent campaign contributors.

To be fair, I'll admit I don't know everything about every candidate.
There are pros and cons of each person seeking their party's nomination.

But as of now, Bernie's got my vote.

Decision 2012: Congratulations, President Obama

Congratulations on your re-election, President Obama!
You've gotta admit, that's a good-looking family

The voters have spoken, and, as Governor Romney asked in his concession speech, I hope we will all pray for our elected leader's success in improving our country. Democrats and Republicans are all Americans, so let's now work together and strengthen the USA over the next 4 years, instead of bickering and dividing ourselves further.
I'm very interested to see what Governor Romney will do now
PS: I made a little meme that I hope both sides can find amusing. Just kind of an awkward pic for the Obama camp to release, and deserving of meme-ing, isn't it?

40 Days to #44

Today I noticed that we're 40 days away from the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States of America. Yes, Barack Obama will take oath on January 20, 2009. And thus I dedicate this blogpost to him and a total of 44 things (some rough rounding used) he will be starting with when he inherits the White House from our current Commander-in-Chief.
Note: some of these weren't started by President George W Bush, but they may have been exacerbated by President #43.
1 -struggling economy
1 -energy crisis
2 -unpopular wars
3 -failing domestic auto manufacturers
7 -percent unemployment rate
8 -out of 10 Americans are overweight
10 -major global conflicts (according to cnn.com)
11 -trillion dollar national debt, AND
1 -heaping helping of HOPE!
44
Here is a great link that shows how he is an ordinary man who does ordinary things in addition to serving our country.

Vote or Shut Your Yapper for 4 Years

I don't care if you voted for Obama or McCain, Nader or Ron Paul, Burt or Ernie, Bonnie or Clyde.

But if you didn't go to your local voting center and perform your civic duty today, then you have absolutely no room for complaining in the next 4 years.

If you did vote, like me, then feel free to voice your opinions as the next president takes charge in the current challenging situation.
