Last night was the first night of the Tax Dodgers corporate softball season.
As coach, I'm very excited that we have lots of new players and enthusiasm.
Since our pitcher from last year (famous in the league for her prowess) had already joined another Monday-night league, we had to someone new on the mound.
And since no one else wanted to, the job fell to me. Yikes. I rarely hit the plate in the first couple innings, but settled in and figured out my form after a while.
Though we didn't win either game, we were right in the hunt until the late innings. Oh, and in the last inning of the second game--we always play double headers--I hit a line drive shot to left-center and tore around the bases for a leadoff in-the-park homer. The whole thing felt like poetry and was effortless. Just another reason I love softball.
Armed with a better knowledge of our players and where to put them (both in the field and the batting order), I'm excited to see what we can do next week. Go Tax Dodgers!
