Halloween Barn Dance

Last Friday night there was a big multi-singles ward dance up in Maryland at a barn. I hadn't really thought about what I'd be this year for Halloween, so I quickly came up with being the new James Bond. Basically that decision was made due to my owning a bow tie. Maybe not the greatest costume or rationale, but it was good enough for last-minute.

A group of us made the drive up and we had a blast. I was really impressed, because there were lots of really good costumes. The friends I went with (Anne, Matt, and Meghan below) went as a pilot and flight attendants. There was a group of friends that went as Karate Kid (with the shower costume that Karate Kid wears in the show to his Halloween dance) and the Cobra Kai (in their skeleton costumes). Very cool! Makes me want to do theme costumes with my friends next year. If you have any good ideas, let me know. Of course, socializing is a big part of a singles ward dance, and refreshments are key, but the best part is the opportunity to dance with reckless abandon, right? Well we were definitely shaking our groove things. My roommate Pat, below, put his sweet moves on display to the delight of all in attendance.
Another roommate, Dustin, was the toast of all the computer-loving, calculator-carrying, pants-up-to-the-armpits pencil-pushers in the crowd. He was a genuine nerd and never broke character all night. He'll be the first to admit that he dresses like a nerd so that he's got the perfect excuse to dance any way he wants for a full night. Righteous!
So what do you do when the dance is over, but you've got sweet pilot and flight attendant costumes? You go to the airport that is right next to your house, of course! And it's convenient because we live about 5 mins from Reagan Airport (hint, hint to all you friends who are looking for a reason to come to DC). Don't they look like they're ready to serve some peanuts and beverages? :)
