Have you ever watched the show "Phineas and Ferb"? No?!? Well, you're missing out, my friend.Perhaps you dismiss the show because it's on the Disney channel and you've been boycotting Disney ever since the abomination "That's So Raven" premiered. While that's a valid reason, it's time to come back and enjoy for yourself the intelligent humor of "Phineas and Ferb".
I don't watch every episode, but when I do I enjoy it. The show uses a mix of cartoon animation that appeals to both kids and adults, clever song-writing, and smart references to topics that adults will get (and most likely go right over kids' heads). Reminds me of the Shrek movies a little bit.
For example, last night I watched the new "Phineas and Ferb: The Movie" and it included references to Handel, the "Wolverines!" victory yell from Red Dawn, Kierkegaard and existentialism, alternate dimension time-travel, and Slash from Guns N' Roses.

ReplyDeleteEveryone looks at me like I'm crazy when I tell them it's a favorite of Mr. Wonderful's and mine, but they are soon singing a different tune when they see for themselves. :)
I watched the movie yesterday with the G-man and we both loved it! Seriously, I wish the Disney Channel would put their shows (at least P&F and Kim Possible) on DVD. I'm not talking about an episode here and there, I would buy the full seasons. They are just so clever and entertaining!!!!

Just found out that Netflicks has all of the Phineas and Ferb episodes available for streaming! Today is gonna be a great day!
